Davide Tonelli, Ph.D. Eng.
Davide Tonelli is a civil engineer specialized in the field of structural engineering.
He has a fine command of the English, German and French languages and is your dedicated contact person at Domus Toscana.
Mr Tonelli graduated from the University of Pisa in 2011 and then obtained his Ph.D. in 2015 with a Thesis on the optimisation of “Freeform Grid-Shells”, in collaboration with the University of Bath.
His enthusiasm for the world of constructions and his passion for structural engineering led him then to travel all over Europe.
From 2015 to 2020, Mr Tonelli worked first in England, then in France and eventually in Germany, each time as a structural engineer in the glass façade and light-weight steel construction industry.
During this period Mr Tonelli had the chance to participate in the renovation of the north lift of the Eiffel Tower, among other projects.
Although he prized very much the north European open-mindedness and the drive of living abroad, the pull towards home was always strong and at the beginning of 2020, right in the thick of the pandemic, the times were ripe for Mr Tonelli to go back home: the Maremma region in Tuscany.
Since moving back in Tuscany in 2020, alongside his work in the construction industry, Mr Tonelli has also decided to carry on with his grandfather’s farm on the slopes of Mount Amiata (GR), where work and passion come together to yield a fine example of authentic Sangiovese wine.
